Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah appears to be ahead of Loïc Badé in the race to replace Jonathan Tah at Bayer Leverkusen. Quansah has emerged as the favourite to fill the vacancy at the North Rhine-Westphalian club, which is willing to make a significant investment. Talks between clubs are ongoing.
If the Liverpool player is selected, Leverkusen would proceed on its own, regardless of Florian Wirtz’s multi-million-dollar move to the Premier League champions. Quansah has indicated a green light for a move to Bayer Leverkusen as the clubs currently engage in contact, as explained by Fabrizio Romano. After finalising deals with Wirtz and Frimpong, Bayer and Liverpool are back in discussions about the centre back.
The defender Badé’s option is undeniably not the cheapest for the Germans; they would need to go into their wallets deep if they want the Sevilla player. The Frenchman has been and remains at the top of the Germans’ list, along with Quansah. The Nervión team already rejected Loïc Badé’s 23+3 million offer from Aston Villa last January. The player, at that time, chose to remain at Sevilla, a scenario that has now changed.
The 22-year-old Frenchman Badé has ended the season at an even bigger value, competing with France at a top level. He won a UEFA Nations League bronze medal, playing alongside Lucas Hernández. In the Sánchez-Pizjuán, they don’t consider letting him out for less than 30 million euros or so. Aside from his growing reputation, Sevilla had to pay €12 million for the player to complete his purchase from Stade Rennes in the summer of 2023. Therefore, to generate a notable capital gain, the sale price for Badé this summer must be high.
A reinforcement of the present and future: Jarell Quansah
Jarell Quansah has been chosen by Leverkusen to strengthen their defence, despite having considered other options such as Loïc Badé. The move is part of the club’s ambitious planning for next season under the German team’s new coach. For Liverpool, it is a painful departure, but necessary from a financial point of view, and although details are still to be finalised, everything points to Quansah being a new Bayer player soon.
